Road trip stories you'll argue about for miles

Long drive, conversation running dry, playlist on repeat? Fact or Fable tells you an eerie story, and then the whole car debates: did that really happen?

Road trip stories you'll argue about for miles

Short enough for any stretch

Each story runs 6 to 10 minutes. That fits between two exits, a rest-stop break or the final stretch before you arrive. No need to commit to hours of audio.

Playback remembers where you stopped, so after the gas station you pick up right where you left off.

Listen, then guess together

At the end of each story, the app asks: fact or fable? That's where the fun starts. Who caught which detail? Who's certain, who has doubts?

Once you agree, the passenger taps the answer and the reveal is read aloud.

Driver-friendly

The stories are written for listening, with nothing you need to look at. The driver doesn't have to touch a thing: the phone stays with the passenger or in its mount, and the voice comes through the car speakers.

A few of the stories

True or made up? We won't tell you here. Listen and decide for yourself.

The Day It Rained Meat

A clear morning on a Kentucky farm, and a woman is boiling soap in front of her house. Then something starts to fall, out of a sky without a single cloud.

The Teacher's Notebook

A mountain village in the Bohemian Forest, February, deep snow. In the middle of the night, a schoolteacher wakes with a weight pressing on her chest. By morning, she learns she wasn't the only one.

The Party Line

A blizzard in eastern Montana, a remote ranch, and a man who can no longer breathe. And on the other end of the telephone line, every neighbor is listening.

FAQ

Is Fact or Fable okay for kids in the car?

The stories are meant for teens and adults. They're eerie but not brutal. The best way to decide is to try the first free story together.

How does the sound get into the car?

Like any audio app: via Bluetooth or cable through the car speakers. The app is controlled on the phone, ideally by the passenger.
